HISTORY…
Cherrybrook Community Pre-School was established in 1987 by a group of local residents lead by Councillor Nan Horne to fulfill a need in the area for a community based pre-school.
Since commencing, the Pre-School has operated out of the Gumnut Community Centre which is owned by Hornsby Shire council and managed by a group of interested local residents. The Pre-School leases the Centre five days a week during school terms and has exclusive use during the hours of 8.00am to 4.00pm. Being a Community Centre it is used by other community groups outside these hours and at weekends.
The Centre was originally built for a fruit Co-op of local orchardists and was left to Hornsby Shire Council by a member of the Pogson Family for “use by the community”.
